The giving tree poetry5/30/2023 In Shel Silverstein’s poem, The Giving Tree, the main character (the boy) expresses selfish and unselfish love for a tree, respectively. As a preparation for teaching kids all over the world how much their mothers do for them, it could be used to demonstrate the amount of time they put in for their mothers. On the surface, it appears to be a story that is intended for children’s parents to read to them before they go to bed, but the poems and stories are more than just that. The Giving Tree is a story about a boy and a tree that is told through a series of parables. This is a good example of a narrative poem. This story of a young boy who grew up loving and being loved by a tree is told in Shel Silverstein’s novel. This poem’s purpose is to tell a story, and it falls into the category of narrative poem.
